Standard First Aid (WSBC INTERMEDIATE first aid)
Course Overview
Our Standard First Aid program is a thorough 16-hour course designed to provide comprehensive first aid and CPR training. It is ideal for individuals who require certification for workplace compliance or those who want advanced skills to confidently manage emergencies at home or in the community.
Course Content
Training includes the following topics:

Introduction to the Canadian Red Cross

Preparing to respond safely

Understanding the EMS system

The Check, Call, Care approach

Roles and responsibilities of a First Aid Attendant

Airway emergencies
-
Breathing and circulation emergencies

CPR/AED for respiratory and cardiac arrest (Level C)

Wound care and bleeding control
-
Head, neck, and spinal injuries
-
Bone, muscle, and joint injuries
-
Sudden medical emergencies
-
Environmental illnesses
-
Poisons, including opioid poisoning
Delivery Format
This blended program includes:
1) Online Learning (8 hours)
Students complete self-paced online training through the Canadian Red Cross Learning Campus. Access is provided within 48 hours of registration.
2) In-Person Training (8 hours)
A full-day classroom session led by a certified Canadian Red Cross Instructor.
The online portion must be completed before attending the in-person training. The classroom session must be finished within 90 days of completing the online component.
Certification
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a 3-year Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification. Digital certificates are issued upon completion.
